As usual, our preparations for the arrival of Syawal this year, was a simple one (ala kadar sahaje). Just a set of Hari Raya clothings & shoes coz traditional clothings for us are worn only on certain occasions like festive seasons & wedding functions... So tak yah ler bazir2 duit beli 2 3 pasang... Baju tahon2 yang lepas maseh elok lagi... heh...
Just like any other year, we would pick one colour for our family Hari Raya clothings (this is standard procedure la har)... So Hubby loves the colour (sebab membe jugak yang pileh colour tu) & I love it too!
It's just that when the actual day came for us to get the Hari Raya clothings @ Geylang Serai, there seems to be a little "glitch" in the colour concept thingy... pfft... When we got the colour that we wanted, it's either there wasn't any size available or the fabrics were way too different from what we expected... lol...
With Asil's clinging on his Baba while Asyura clinging on her Ummi, we walked to & fro (I mean we literally WALK & PAST THRU THE CROWD OF PEOPLE & SMOKE FROM THE BBQ DENDENG STALLS! WA LAO!!) in search of our baju lor... In the end we gave up & ended buying those baju that pleases our eyes the most la har & of course we still stayed true to the colour that we chose (tak dapat exact colour, the closest colour next to it pon jadi la kan... asalkan ade colour contrast)...
So don't be surprised if on the 1st day of Hari Raya, my little Asyura looks like a 'Bhangra' dancer, my little Asil looks like a 'Kung Fu' fighter, my Baba looks like "Hang Tuah" & I look like I just got married... lol...
Seriously, this year's baju Raya is such a challenge to find... Baba had to park his car right behind Joo Chiat Complex & we had to freakingly walk all the way thru out the entire Geylang Bazaar with our kids clinging on us... (>.<) Kaaaaau!! Berlendir siak ketiak!! Satu badan bau asap dageng dendeng bakar!! lol...
Kueh Raye beli pon tak banyak coz my 3rd sis-in-law [Muz] had already made some Hari Raya biscuits & cookies of her own with her mommy... So we decided to contribute a few cartons of canned drinks in the house... [Oi Moteh! Rajen sei minah! Next year kau try la buat kek skali... Bole jugak aku testing... Kueh Raye kau, aku nak testing malam Raye nanti... hee hee...]
So we're left with cleaning up? I guess... & that's about it... heh...
You know, I was actually thinking about those months when I was pregnant with my kids... How I completed my fasting for the entire month of Ramadhan while they were still in my tummy... I'm kinda smiling @ myself right now looking back at how strong of a young mummy I was enduring the thirst & hunger during Ramadhan while conceiving both of my babies... Masya'allah... I still couldn't believe that I actually went thru all the fasting process without even skipping a single day... Alhamdulillah...
The best part was, both of my kids @ that time, were actually fasting along with me & how sweet could that be, to have your unborn babies practice fasting as early as when they were still in your tummy? It's touching much for me... Really...
I hope this experience of me fasting during both of my pregnancies would give some motivation & encouragement not only to my little Asyura, but also to all Muslim mums-to-be in the future... If you have the will to do something that benefits you, Insya'allah, you can do it... Antare nak dengan tak nak jer kan? =)
And I guess Syawal is drawing nearer & nearer to us while Ramadhan will slowly draw itself away from us... I definitely will miss Ramadhan kerane sesunggoh nyer Ramadhan tahun ini sangat la bermakne buat diri ku... Those iftar moments I had with my Baba & our kids... Just us 4...
The most memorable iftar we had as a family was the one @ Changi Beach... Where we bought the famous Changi Nasi Lemak, some fruits & drinks, then drove down to the beach & got ourselves a nice spot @ one of the picnic shelters there, enjoying the sunset while waiting for iftar... It's one of the nicest moments for us... Berbuke pose cume beralaskan surat khabar... I actually said this to my hubby, "Ba, kite dok kat pondok ni buke pose da mcm anak yatim piatu eh... Macam tak de mak bapak... Macam tak de tempat tinggal..."
Hubby's reply was, "Tak per, we still have each other & our kids & most importantly Allah, who is always there for us..."
I smiled when hubby said that but while eating, somehow, it kept me thinking of all the poor & the needy... Macamane agak nyer eh dorang sambot bulan Ramadhan & Syawal nanti? May Allah have mercy upon them... Insya'allah... Kesian dorang...
So to end my blog entry for today, I would like to wish everyone of my family members, Muslim brothers & sister & all those who know me...
"SELAMAT HARI RAYA, MAAF ZAHIR & BATIN - SALAM EID MUBARAK..."
This might sounds too early but OK la har, coz I noticed that I'm too busy to blog lately & now that I'm hook to Twitter, I seldom blog liao... hee hee... So since I've got this weeny bit of time, why not blog right?
Enjoy your holiday everyone & kalau sesape yang ade kenderaan tu, tolong la pandu berhati2 yer... =)
Till I blog again...
