The Historical Significance Of Asyura...

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radiyallahu 'anh) reports that the Holy Nabi (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim) arrived in Madinah and found the Jews observing fast on the day of ‘Ashura… They said: "It is the day of great (significance) when Allah delivered Hazrat Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) and his people and drowned Pharoah and his people, and Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) observed fast out of gratitude. And we also observe it." The Holy Messenger of Allah (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim) responded: "We have more right, and we have closer connection with Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) than you have"; so Allah’s Messenger (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim) observed fast (on the day of ‘Ashura) and gave us orders to observe it. [Sahih Bukhari and Muslim]

‘Ashura is a day of great historical significance. On this day: Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) accepted the repentance of Sayyidina Adam ('Alaihis-Salaam) after his exile from Paradise; Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) saved Sayyidina Nuh ('Alaihis-Salaam) and his companions in the ark; Allah extinguished the fire in which Sayyidina Ibrahim ('Alaihis-Salaam) was thrown by Nimrod; And Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) spoke directly to Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) and gave him the Commandments. On this same 10th of Muharram, Sayyidina Ayyub ('Alaihis-Salaam) was restored to health (from leprosy); Sayyidina Yusuf ('Alaihis-Salaam) was reunited with his father Ya’qub ('Alaihis-Salaam); Sayyidina Yunus ('Alaihis-Salaam) was taken out from the belly of the fish; and the sea was divided as the nation of israel was delivered from captivity and Pharoah’s army was destroyed. ‘Ashura is also the day when the kingdom of Sulaiman ('Alaihis-Salaam) was restored; Sayyidina Isa ('Alaihis-Salaam) was raised to Jannah; and Sayyidina al- Imam Husayn (Radiyallahu 'anh) (the Holy Nabi’s, Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim, grandson) achieved the honor of Martyrdom.

Worship Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) as much as you can on ‘Ashura. Whoever fasts on this day is like one who fasts all his life. Whoever clothes a naked person Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will release him from a painful punishment. He who visits a sick person, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will grant him a reward that will not be decreased. Whoever places his hand on an orphan’s head, or feeds a hungry person or gives water to a thirsty man, Allah will feed him a feast from Paradise and will quench his thirst with Salsabil (a wine that does not intoxicate). And who ever takes a Ghusl on this day will enjoy excellent health and freedom from sickness and indolence. Whoever provides generously for his family on this day, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will be generous to him throughout this year. And whoever applies Kuhl to his eyes will never suffer from eye-sore again, Insha’Allah al-Aziz

O’ Allah! Bless us to perform good deeds and gain their reward on ‘Ashura. Make the new year one of unity, cooperation and success for Muslims in this city and around the world. Ameen.

There's something about the Day of Asyura that never fails to fascinate me...

In the Islamic Calendar, every 10th Muharram is the Day of Asyura... Many Islamic historical events occurred on this day...

Allah s.w.t has His way of making those historical events happened in different years & centuries but on the same particular date... He knows what we do not know... He definitely has His reason to it... =)

Or maybe, there's more other past historical events that we do not know of but only He knows...

Wallahualam...

Oh, and just for sharing also...

The command to fast in the month of Ramadan was revealed by Allah on the second year of Hijrah. In the first year, the Prophet s.a.w command Muslims to fast on the Day of Asyura... =)

Salam Ma'al Hijrah 1432H...

The past has brought the present,
The present will carry to the future,
Whatever has been will be again, now or later,
The only hope we have is what we do now,
For the present will soon change to the past & become the future...

Insya'allah, amin...

Salam Ma'al Hijrah from Ummi Lily & Family...

Promises are worst than lies...

Because you just don't make them believe, you also make them hope...

Hum Drum...

Sometimes you just need to distance yourself from people. If they care, they’ll notice. If they don’t, you know where you stand.

If all people are just honest with their real feelings, no one’s gonna be hurt because everybody would be aware if it's a lie or not.

Screw what everyone says. I am who I am, & that's it. I have many flaws, & so do you. If you're gonna judge me, better look at yourself too.

If you worry about what-Might-Be, and wonder what-Might-have-Been, you will ignore What-Is.

The art of argument : if you argue correctly, you're never wrong.

If we dwell on the negatives in our life, we will be consume by them. Highlight and focus on the positives.

Sometimes I intend to hide my feelings.., than to burden someone else with them.

The hardest part about accepting the saying “everything happens for a reason" is waiting for that reason to come along.

I trusted you & your promise. But once that trust & promise are broken, then that's the end of everything... Things will never be the same; you & me.

Guide To A Better Life...

A man who died of pancreatic cancer in 2008 & who wrote one of the bestsellers "The Last Lecture" in 2007 back then, wrote this beautiful letter to his wife & children to follow...

A legacy to leave behind...

May you be blessed by his insight...

POINTS ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE

Personality:
  1. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
  2. Don't have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
  3. Don't over do; keep your limits.
  4. Don't take yourself so seriously; no one else does.
  5. Don't waste your precious energy on gossips.
  6. Dream more while you are awake.
  7. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner of his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
  8. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
  9. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
  10. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
  11. Smile & laugh more.
  12. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
Community:
  1. Call your family often.
  2. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
  3. Try to make at least 3 people smile each day.
  4. What other people think of you is none of your business.
  5. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your family & friends will. Stay in touch.
Life:
  1. Do the right things.
  2. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
  3. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up & show up
  4. The best is yet to come.
  5. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
  6. When you awake alive & healthy in the morning, thank your parents for giving you this life, sing a song & be contented with everything, like the birds who stride the sky!
While you practise all of the above, share this knowledge with the people you love, people you hate, people you play with, people you work with & people you live with...

Not only will it enrich YOUR life, but also that of those around you...
