The patient resting in bed is my 2nd maternal uncle, Wak Din..
He was admitted last Friday & had a lung operation to fix one of his burst blood vessels.. He's in ICU right now & resting.. There's still phlegm in his lungs & doctors are trying their best to stabilise his condition..
I went to visit him & for the 1st time I realise that Wak Din is getting older & sick.. I just stood there looking at him & then, that's when all the memories of me spending my childhood life with him including the rest of my maternal uncles & aunts @ my late grams crib in the old MacPherson Road came flashing into my mind..
Wak Din works as a sailor back then & as a child, I would always wait up till wee hours of the morning for him to come home.. And when he did, he would cooked up a storm in the kitchen & made us food to eat.. He was the one who thought me how to eat my very 1st hotdog & spaghetti meal.. His western food cooking was awesome!
He would bring me out to the Amusement Parks & to East Coast Beach with his dates.. And would always asked me,"Girlfriend Wak Din mane yg lawa? Mane Lily suke?"
I tried not to shed any tears during the visit.. Seeing him in that state, it saddens me.. Thinking & looking back at how every single one of my maternal uncles & aunties (mom included) behave towards each other saddens me even more..
If money, higher job position, higher paid income, being rich, famous & holding a degree makes them happy, then let them & their family be..
And for all the "wealth & post" that you have, doesn't give you the right of say & then expects others to abide to your actions.. That's just plain selfish & arrogant..
Get well soon Wak Din.. Smoge Allah sembohkan penyakit mu..
