Saturday Morning...

So here are some pictures taken while we were having our little picnic at the Upper Seletar Reservoir plus some other pictures taken on our previous outing (pictures that I haven't even uploaded yet)... hee hee... :)

If Only Cats Were As Clever As Dogs...

I hate it when incident like this happens, in front of my very eyes... I'll go all sad and teary...

As usual, hubby would fetch me up from work and we'll be riding our way home on his bike together... My mood then was actually pretty happy coz I've done most of my end month reports and I planned to laze around with the babies as soon as I got home... So we were stopping at the traffic light junction somewhere at Chong Pang Central towards Yishun MRT and that's when I heard hubby saying, "Ya Allah!! Astaghfirullah..." So I turned my head to where hubby was looking at and to my horror, I saw this little cat lying helplessly in the middle of the road with its face injured, you know, like it's been ran down by a car or something, and it's trying very hard to survive... Seriously, the cat's face was totally distorted with parts of the eyes splattered on the road, jaws crushed and tongue sticking out while the cat itself was still alive and in pain coz it was kicking it legs hysterically...

I can't do a single thing but to just watch it helplessly being carried away by some kind hearted pedestrians (may Allah bless you people)... I felt so guilty for not helping the poor cat... Really guilty...

Then, all of a sudden, I started having this flashback memory of myself rescuing this little kitten that had been ran down by a moving vehicle... It happened 3 years ago, a few days before my wedding... I was on my way to work, waiting for the bus at the neighbourhood bus stop. Saw this cute little kitten, she was lying on the grass patch, meow-ing... She doesn't even look like she's injured or something... You know me, being a cat lover, I would play around with all kinds of cats that I bumped into... So I stroke the kitten's fur with my hands la and that's when I realised that the kitten's lower body was ran down by a vehicle coz there was blood coming out from her anus and everything... She was basically trying her very best to crawl towards me... By then, I was crying like crazy and going all panicky... I don't even give a hoot whether anyone saw in what kind of state I was... Called my boss and told her that I'll be coming to the office in the afternoon... Then, called my mom, telling her to meet me at where I am coz I've a seriously injured kitten with me... Mom came in a split second... By then, there was blood all over my hands and clothing (coz I was carrying the poor kitten)... Mom hailed for a cab and we rushed to the SPCA as soon as possible...

Reached there, did the necessary procedures and everything... The part which saddens me the most was when the vet told me that the little kitten couldn't be save coz she had severe internal injuries and chances for her to survive was very slim, she just won't make it... The kitten had to be put to sleep... I tell you, I was crying like crazy... Tears were rolling down my cheek and it felt like my heart had just crushed into pieces coz I did everything I could but luck was just not on my side... I was devastated...

I've had other sad animal encounters too... Till now, those memories are still fresh in my mind...But this one had really touched my heart so...

I've seen bloody ass humans trying to abuse animals... And me, coming at the right time to save them by chance... Then, brought them to the animal shelter where they were being well taken care of...

"Eh!! You stupid idiot!! You got no freaking brain ah? What you did is wrong and I can complain to the police you know or not?!! They are living things!! How can you do that you bloody @#%*!!" This is what I would usually say to those heartless animal abusers whom I accidentally bumped into... I would make a big hoo-haa and shout at them...By then, these heartless idiots would go all terrified of their wrongdoings and started running away... pfft... (coward jackass)

So yeah... I'm an animal lover and cats are my most favourites... Being too over sensitive sometimes took a toll on me... Matters like this would drag on me for days... Crying that sort of thing, asking myself why are there so many bad stuffs happening around in this world... You know even all those stuffs on war la, child abuse la, anything sad la... I would go all teary... Laki aku cakap, aku ni terlalu the very the sensitive...

I've 1 cat at home and his name is Black. He looks like a miniature black panther and that's how he got his name... We found him stranded by the side of the road in the heavy rain, meow-ing and shivering... Black was a tiny little kitten then... So we brought him home, fed him and took care of him till now.. He's been so attached to me... Oh! And he LOVES eating DURIANS.. I mean the REAL THING!! He could finish up the whole fruit all by himself... Tak pernah aku nampak kucing yang pandai makan durian... Bile dapat Black ni kan... Macam pelik jugak tengok diye sebat tu durian sampai licin... :) Well, you could actually say that I've 4 cats in the beginning and all were brought home coz they were all stranded and been left astray... Nak dikatakan aku banyak pungot kuceng la (banyak giler) and all, out of pure sympathy... Lepas tu, da berikan cukop makan and everything, I would sent them to the animal shelter... My parents were always nagging at me... But I always tell them, "If it's not for us, animal lovers, who would wanna help all this helpless animals? No one will... No one..."

So back to the incident that I saw at the traffic junction... Hubby went out again late in the evening to check on the poor little cat... But it couldn't be found... Perhaps a good Samaritan had taken it to the animal shelter, or perhaps some jackass had dumped it into a bin... Whatever the possibility maybe, I know the little cat won't make it... He just won't... I hope and pray, Allah will take its soul away as soon as possible to release it from the pain that it's going thru... Amin...

If only cats were as clever as dogs (as you know, dogs are very intelligent animals), there would be lesser death tolls on the cats population... Perhaps, it's Allah's way of doing His things... Wallahualam...

I just can't help thinking about the whole incident... :(

Happy Holiday...

I was in the office on Chinese New Year's Eve... Had to rush on some last minute paperworks before going for the long holiday... Yup!! I was working on a half day last Sunday... Hubby came to fetch me up with little Asil at 1 in the afternoon... After that, lepak kat Masjid skejap... Got home and rested for a little while before getting the kids ready for our trip to China Town...

You know, smenjak ade anak ni kan, I don't know why but it seems to be a habit for hubby and me, to visit China Town on Chinese New Year's Eve... Compared to Geylang Serai on Hari Raya's Eve, China Town was way much more "happening"... The lights decor, the people, the sale and everything... Oh!! And orang Melayu Islam kite pon ade jual makanan kat Chinese New Year Bazaar... Happening giler dok!! So there's a little bit of a twist for this year's Chinese New Year Eve... OK, this was what happened...

We arrived in China Town after the Isyak prayer... There were so many people and the parking lots were FULL... Alhamdulillah, there's an empty slot for us to park our car (We parked at the China Town Point nye parking lot)... Then, as usual, we would, you know, walked around la, ate ice creams la, took some pictures la till wee morning that sort of thing... BUT this time, it was way unusually PACKED and CROWDED...

Little Asil had no problem in adapting himself to the whole situation (coz it's his 2nd time being there) except for little Asyura... She got so agitated and cranky by the stuffiness, crowd and everything... Plus, she's so attached to me (macam belangkas)... And, she don't even wanna sit in the double pram alongside her brother... So you guessed it!! I've to carry her all the way la... Then, she gets more and more agitated with the noise and all, she started crying as in "the wailing baby" type of cry... Everyone's looking at the wailing baby... And you know what we did? We cancelled our night-walk in China Town, went back to our car and decided to drove off to the Changi Airport Budget Terminal for our dinner at Hanis Restaurant... So that's about it for Chinese New Year's Eve...

The next day... (1st day of Chinese New Year)

We dropped by the Giant (Tampines) Hypermarket, bought diapers for Asil and Asyura, before heading towards Geylang Serai where hubby bought his non-alcoholic perfumes. Then, had our dinner at the Seoul Garden Restaurant situated in the Marina Square... Hubby and I, we actually giggled our way to Seoul Garden coz all along, we saw a whole lot of Chinese people walking around, window shopping la, lepak-lepak la...

Then, sempat pulak tu laki bini mengumpat...

Hubby to me (giggling), "Ummi, dorang orang Cine ni macam tak beraye eh? Ni kan Chinese New Year? Ade mase pulak dorang gi jalan2 kat sini dengan baju raye. Macam klaka ah... Kalau kite, tak kuase sei nak gi beraye kat shopping centre dengan baju raye lagi... Mak diye... Kalau orang kite tak kuase sei... Rumah sedare-mare da makan brape... Pakcik-makcik la, nenek la..."

Me to hubby (giggling like crazy), "Ah ah sei Baba... Ape steam sei, beraye dengan baju raye abeh tu merayap sampai kat sini? Dorang bole eh layan... Siap dengan setting rambot skali... Abeh lepak kat sini... Kedai bukan nye bukak sei... Klaka betol la dorang ni. 1st time I nampak situation macam ni..."

After the giggling and eating, we next made our move to the Mustafa Centre... It's been quite a while since we last been to that place... Whether it's a holiday or not, that place is always buzzling with people aka shoppers...

2nd day of Chinese New Year...

We had dinner at Sakura International Buffet... I'm telling you, the whole buffet thingy was so unbearably tempting... It's an ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT-BUFFET!! So much delicacies!! So you tell me, how am I suppose to lose weight with all this food temptation around? Cobaan... Betol2 menduge nafsu makan ku ini... sigh... Even the hubby and babies were enjoying and feasting themselves on the sumptuous dinner... Thanks for the treat Baba!!

3rd day of Chinese New Year...

Back in the office... Boo hoo!! With most of my colleagues going on leave, the office is dead quiet... Soooo very quiet... Less phone calls... Less people walking about in the office... Oh!! Received some 'hong bao' from the big boss and superior plus from those veteran uncles and aunties... Kesian... Da tua bangke maseh dapat hong bao... Tak pe la... Rezki... Alhamdulillah... :)

So her comment with regards to this poll thingy was a BIG NO NO... She had so many bloggers (one of them is ME) giving her the same comment. Very interesting comments I might say...

I think we have seen a lot of this 'guy carry their partner's handbag' scene in almost every part of Singapore. No offence but I find it very awkward for a guy to carry his partner's handbag... Like so kental-ish like that. Yang the girl pulak macam tak de tangan gitu kan... I mean, unless if she's retarded or handicap la... That's a good excuse for sure la kan... I mean, come on la... God has given us a pair of hands, can't the ladies carry their own bags or something? I mean, they make their guys look like a geek for carrying their handbags... bleurggh...

So I'm not going to drag this post any longer... You people are allowed the freedom of speech on the given matter... So start your comments NOW!!

Enrolling Little Asil Into A Child Care Centre...

So hubby and I, we decided to enroll little Asil in our neighbourhood Child Care Centre situated 2 blocks away from where we live. The name of the place is Averbel Child Development Centre...

I gave a call to the centre, making an enquiry, as I was unsure of whether will my little boy be suitable to take up a full or a half day Child Care or should I just let him join in their Play-Group where he could make new friends and learn new things instead...

It happened that the lady whom I am having my conversation with is the principal of the centre there. So basically, she was giving me a lot of useful information on the type of class that would be suitable for Asil. As you know, Asil is a little cute toddler who has become so well attached to those whom he had been staying under one roof with. That is us (his parents), his little sister, my parents and my 2 siblings. He's not use to strangers (even to the relatives) and he would by all means, show an unpleasant body language to the presence of people whom he dislikes...

So both hubby and I, we have come to a conclusion of letting little Asil attend the 3 hours "Flexi-Care" from 3.30pm till 6.30pm, allowing him some time to adapt to the new environment (you know, his classmates, teachers and everything). Insya'allah, when he is ready enough, we will transfer him to either a half or full Day Care. :)

The reason why we decided to enroll little Asil into a Child Care Centre is because we would like him to explore out of his 'comfort zone'. Learn on how to be independent and be more interactive. Develop his creative learning and motor skills, be it in reading or writing coz this would act as a stepping stone for him to prepare himself for school in years to come.

There are friends who asked me this question, "Lily, is having 2 kids enough for you? The government encourages Singaporeans to have more babies... Make some more la... Like that government will give you more Baby Bonus..."

I just smiled at them and said, "I'm pleased with having a boy and a girl. They complete my little family for now. And it's not a matter of quantity of having lots of children. It's a matter of how you brought up your children to be what we, parents want them to be. There's no point of having a lot of children if we can't educate them properly and they ended up being unfilial and disrespectful towards the family. And about this Baby Bonus thingy... You think the money will last a lifetime for our children's education and needs? Think about it..."

Every parents want what's best for their children. This, I know. At this very moment, my hands are full with little Asil and Asyura. With the high standard of living in Singapore, having another child or more, would have to wait and that will not come by in a few years to come FOR SURE.

Trying to cope with everything, well, it's quite a challenge for both hubby and I... We have a long journey to go thru...

Enrollment starts after Chinese New Year... I hope all goes well... Insya'allah...

Goodbye BUSH... Helloooooo OBAMA...!!

Yeap!! I was watching the whole entire Obama's inauguration live on TV with the hubby yesterday. Barack-Hussein Obama, the first African American to be elected as 44th President of The United States of America...

Bush left the office with low approval ratings, but he remained upbeat, smiling and joining in the celebration of President Barack Obama's ascent to rock-star status, even as he faces daunting challenges, especially a depressed economy.

As first-timers on the inaugural stage, no one can blame President Obama for being nervous.

First, Obama jumped in before the "do solemnly swear" phrase, which seemed to throw the chief justice off his stride. Roberts rendered the next phrase as "that I will execute the office of President to the United States faithfully."

"That I will execute," Obama repeated, then paused like a school teacher prompting his student with a slight nod. Roberts took another shot at it: "The off ... faithfully the pres ... the office of President of the United States."

After the inauguration ceremony, many in the crowd at the Capitol cheered loudly and waved goodbye at Bush's helicopter as it flew over throngs of people gathered on the Mall to witness history. But not everyone was respectful. Weary of Bush, some people in the crowd chanted "Na-na-na-nah, hey, hey, hey, goodbye" when they heard a television broadcaster announce, "George Bush is no longer president of the United States."

Bush said he went to Washington with a clear set of principles, and left with them intact. He was caught saying that he never took an opinion poll to tell himself what to think, and he's coming home with his head held high and a sense of accomplishment.

Yeah right... Whatever... pfft... "Head held high and a sense of accomplishment"? Maybe this would ring a bell - An eight year administration marked by two wars causing the death of innocent lives, economic recession that affect so many countries and the biggest terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Oh! And have you people ever wonder thru out the reigning of each and every president of America, why do the terrorists attacked only during the period when George Bush was the one in charge of ruling America? This question just runs into my mind... Oh well... Only God knows EVERYTHING!!

Obama's words are very promising on the changes that this world needs. I am not going to put high hopes coz I know it will take some time for him to start assisting other countries that are in need and to get America 'back on track'. But by watching his speech, I just have this feeling that he will do his very best to improve the lives of others and make this world a better place to live in. :)

As for Bush, what I can say is, "Na-na-na-nah, hey, hey, hey, goodbye"... lol...

Israel To Quit Gaza Before Obama's Inauguration...

GAZA (Reuters) – Israel planned to complete a troop pullout from Gaza before Barack Obama's inauguration Tuesday, Israeli political sources said, in what analysts saw as an effort to avoid any tension with the new U.S. president. With a ceasefire entering its third day, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon planned to visit the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip and view first-hand the devastation of a 22-day Israeli offensive.

More Israeli forces left the Gaza Strip Monday and the Israeli political sources said all would be out before Obama was sworn in at 1700 GMT (12 p.m. EST). But Hamas said an Israeli force holding a position near the town of Jabalya shot and killed a 17-year-old Palestinian. The Israeli military had no immediate comment. Many Palestinians returned to the rubble of what used to be their homes in Gaza city suburbs that were hard hit during the fighting. They picked through debris, trying to salvage belongings. Two children playing with unexploded ordnance were killed when it detonated, Hamas officials said.

World leaders were keen to cement a truce and avoid any more bloodshed in Gaza where more than 1,300 Palestinians were killed in Israel's air and ground strikes launched on December 27 with the declared aim of ending rocket attacks. Gaza's infrastructure was left in ruins and the repair bill was estimated by the Palestinian statistics bureau to be about $1.9 billion.

Hamas said 5,000 homes, 16 government buildings and 20 mosques were destroyed and that 20,000 houses were damaged. Israel has said militants hid weapons inside the mosques. Palestinian militant groups said 112 of their fighters and 180 Hamas policemen were killed. Israel put its dead at 10 soldiers and said three civilians were killed in rocket attacks. Gaza medical officials said the Palestinian dead included at least 700 civilians. Israel, which accused Hamas of endangering non-combatants by operating in densely populated areas, said hundreds of militants were among the dead.

WHO WARNING

In Geneva, World Health Organization head Margaret Chan warned of a looming health crisis for many among the 1.5 million Palestinians living in the sliver of territory wedged between Israel and Egypt. Chan said she was deeply concerned about an interruption of immunizations and other life-saving care in the territory, and of the availability of only 2,000 hospital beds in Gaza.

Saudi Arabia pledged $1 billion for rebuilding and the European Union said the bloc's foreign ministers planned to meet in Brussels to discuss humanitarian aid and Israeli demands for the prevention of weapons smuggling to Gaza. Israel had launched its offensive with a vow to "change the reality" for southern border towns that had been the target of rocket fire from Hamas and other militant groups since 2001.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has declared the mission accomplished, noting diplomatic efforts by the United States, Egypt and European nations to prevent Hamas rearming. Israel has vowed to respond to any renewed flow of arms to Gaza.

"We've created a new equation whereby not only (rocket) fire is a provocation against Israel but also rearming will be seen as a motive for an (Israeli military) operation," Tzahi Hanegbi, an Olmert ally and legislator, told Israel Radio.

I think the killing of Palestinians were done on purpose and they tried their very best to wipe out as much Palestinians as possible before the very last day Bush steps down as the President of America? And his expression doesn't seems to show any mercy on this war thingy. In fact he supports the action taken by the Israel regime towards Palestine.

And it really makes sense for them to do what they did to the people of Palestine!! It's a Jewish conspiracy!! To conquer the land of Palestine!! The prophecy itself is stated in our Holy Qur'an and al-Hadith!!

Had a grudge with the Hamas and other militant groups? Why bomb the civilians and their houses? Why not aim their target at the Hamas military base? Instead they chose to harm and kill innocent Palestinian lives... They are WORSE than those terrorists!!

I'm Way Behind Schedule...

OK, I really need to focus on my stuffs right now... I've been sooooo darn busy with sooooo many things lately... Babies were sick for the past few weeks... Alhamdulillah, they are recuperating and feeling much better... Stayed up late in the office to submit my year 2009 Sales Report whatever bla bla bla... I mean, darn this economic downturn... Because of it, I've to submit my estimation reports for the year 2009 early... I'm still cracking my freaking brains on this report thingy... pfft... Freaking stressful...

I'm supposed to be concentrating on my blogshop but till now, I'm still struggling coz as you know, I'm working from 9am till 6pm, sticking my butt in the office... And when I reached home, time spent is for my family... And on weekends, we normally spent our time outdoors... Even if I needed time on my own to be focusing on my blogshop, I need to put at least 1 of the babies to sleep coz I couldn't possibly juggle 2 babies and my blogshop at the same time... pfft... Talk about being a SUPERMOM... Ta-da!! Tiring you know... Nak kemas rumah, cuci baju, sidai baju, lipat baju, jage anak and suami... hmmm...

I wonder how it would be like if I've 10 children... Having 2 babies is pretty hectic enough and quite a challenge for me already... Especially little Asyura who's grown soooo attached to me unlike her brother, Asil who's grown soooo attached to my mom... hee hee... Nak sepuloh anak? issshh... Da macam satu pasukan bola sepak... lol... Perhaps if I've 10 children, I'll enroll them up in the Neighbourhood District Soccer Championship and hubby, being the captain of the team... Coach nye, aku la... mwahahahaha!!

I just hope this blogshop thingy will be a stepping stone for me to start a little business of my own... I don't ask for a profit turnover of a million or zillions per year la... Anyway, it's just a small little blogshop... I just hope this blogshop thingy would do just fine to be some sort of like my side-line income other than my present job as a Finance & Human Resource Asst... Insya'allah... I hope... Well, who knows, with a steady income I got from my blogshop, I might be doing a home base business and be spending more quality time with my family one day... :) Insya'allah...

Oh and as y'all know, I failed my Final Theory Test... pfft... I've already booked for another test to be taken on February next month... Well, there's this saying, "If you ever fail, try and try again..." Hope I pass this time around... Even if I ever were to fail again, I know that there's always a reason behind every actions... I leave my fate to Allah s.w.t. In Him is where I put my trust on... :) Mesti ade hikmah disebalik ape yang berlaku... Must always THINK POSITIVE!! Yeah babe!!

To my new blogfriend, Zaharah: How's your weight loss thingy doing? You know... I lost like 0.5kg in the last couple of days and ended up gaining that 0.5kg again today... lol...

I'm Worried Sick...

I took a day's leave today coz mom needs to bring her mom (grams) for a medical appointment at the Changi Hospital and because of this, she won't be able to babysit my babies for me... Well, it's OK with me coz at least I could spend time and have some motherly bonding with my babies...

I'm suppose to be going out with cousin Lala in the late afternoon of today but I've called-off the meet-up coz both of my babies are not in the pink of health... They woke up with a high fever... I don't know what's wrong but it seems that the babies get sick frequently... I mean, the fever, flu, cough and all that... Last week baru baik demam and now dah start saket balek... They're making hubby and me worried coz the fever would just come and go at any moment at anytime... They lost a lot of weight and appetite ever since...

Waking up in the wee hours of the morning attending to our babies... Monitoring their body temperature and everything seems to be a daily routine for hubby and me nowadays... Having less than 7 to 6 hours of sleep and going to work the next morning seems pretty tiring... I hope their condition would be OK soon...

Right now, I'm in the kitchen doing what I do best - blogging, cooking up a storm, laundry and everything while waiting for hubby to assist me in sending our babies to our family doctor... Well, I'm really worried sick about their health... sigh...

A thousand apologies Lala... Sorry about today's outing... The babies are sick... Perhaps we arrange some other day for a meet up OK...

So I was working on a half day last Saturday... My bosses brought their nephews to the office for a little visit... It's been a while since I last saw them... 4 years old, Kang-kang & his 2 years old Ti-ti... Everyone were happy to see them... So instead of working, we were actually getting ourselves busy entertaining the kids... :)

And as usual, hubby would fetched me up from work... We got home... Rested for awhile before getting ourselves ready for a family outing to Down Town East situated in Pasir Ris... Aunt Mama Yang had called up earlier saying that there's free tickets to watch a singing competition organised by the NTUC at D'Marquee... So yup!! We met up with them there...

It was an entertaining show... Uncle Sayuti being one of the judges alongside with Jatt Ali and Ann Hussein... The songs were great... We weren't feeling bored at all...

The next day... Met up with cousin Sufi coz hubby and Sufi had a little meet up with one of my uncles to settle some errands they had in Bedok... Then, we went out again with aunt Mama Yang and family... This time, forest walk and sight-seeing at Henderson Waves... You know the long bridge connecting Telok Blangah and Mount Faber? Yup!! We went there...

You could say that it's the most longest BRIDGE that I had ever walked across... One's a 2.7km while the other's a 2.3km bridge!! Hallo!! Can you believe it!! And the bridges were so freaking high too!! 77.13m above sea level!! Whoaaaa!! It's like a hike up to Bukit Timah Hill!!

The whole lot of us were panting... Imagine a dog running with its tongue out? Yup! We looked some sort of like that but the human version of it... lol... With me carrying my little Asyura on the longest bridge ever, it's like carrying an 11kg weight and doing a 2.4km walk but only longer... sheesh... Very tiring... But our efforts were soon paid off... We reached Henderson Waves and got the most fantastic night view of the entire place there...

Hubby's Gonna Be Back Today... Woo Hoo!!

I'm basically feeling very happy today... Why? Coz the hubby's gonna be back in 2 hours time... Aaaaaand... I've got myself a new lappy!! Woo hoo!! Alhamdulillah... I got what I wanted at last!!

To Lala: Thank you so much for your help!! I really appreciate it... Thanks for sharing your opinion on the lappy thingy... I saved a lot!! Thought it's not the lappy that I wanted but it'll do just fine for me... Alhamdulillah... Thanks for taking the trouble of going all the way to Giant, Tampines just to check on the lappy thingy for me... I owe you one!! Oh!! And watching you in the dress that I bought for you was hilarious!! Thanks again!! Mmmmmuaah!!

OK, gotta rush now... Need to get the babies and myself ready coz we'll be meeting the hubby later at Harbourfront... Chao!!

"Mat & Minah" Dictionary...

This is sooooo freaking funny!! lol...

I read this in the cousin's (Lala) blog just now... I was laughing my heart out as soon as I started reading it... It's soooo freaking hilarious!! The first person that came into my mind was cousin Sutinah... lol... She's a good example of the 'minah' that the dictionary was referrring to... lol... Seriously... Mwahahahahaha!!

To those of you who wants to know more about the Malay 'slang' language: It's a MUST READ thingy for y'all... Read it and start pondering...

To Lala: Eh! I do agree siak on your view about this 'Mat & Minah' Dictionary thingy... We sounded like minahs already... Mwahahahahaha!! Freaking hilarious!! Macam siak ah!! lol...

MAT & MINAH DICTIONARY (:

Gua [goo-wah] noun – What some mats and minahs use to call themselves. Similar in using “lu” when referring to others. A legacy that dates back to the times of Mat Rocks back in the early 80s.

A common trick that can be played on Mats is to ask them to translate the English phrase “Monkey Cave” into Malay. The mat will then say “Gua Monyet” (I'm a monkey).

Mat [mat] noun – To the rest of the world, the word simply means a Malay guy. But within the Malay community itself there is a growing disparity in consensus to its actual meaning. Popularly, it's used to denote a guy who converses primarily in Malay, as opposed to the more “English speaking” types. Favourites of the mats include tapered jeans, trucker caps and weepy Malay songs with sickeningly suicidal lyrics.

Matrep [mat-rape] noun – An extreme version of the mat. In addition to the usual mat accessories, a matrep will also come adorned with tattoos and matching body-piercings in weird corners of his body.

Minah [mee-nah] noun – An expression used to denote a Malay female. Derived from the popular Malay name, Aminah, which used to be all the rage some time ago. It was sort of the “in-thing” to name your daughter Aminah back in the 60s and 70s. In fact, legend has it that if you go to Geylang Serai market and shout “Hai Minah!” at least a quarter of the makcik population there is going to turn around and smile at you.

Picit [pee-chet] adjective – When a mat tells you to “picit” him, it does not mean that he is trying to be cheeky (or gay, if he is talking to a fellow mat). It simply means that the mat wants you to call him on his mobile. What were you thinking?

Relaksuah [ree-lek-soo-wah] adjective – Official slogan and life motto of the mats and minahs.

Sial [see- yal] noun / adjective – A full stop in every mat's sentence. Eg: “Tadi aku nampak accident sial Rabak sial Aku tak bedek sial Kesian sial” Translation: Just now I saw an accident (full stop) It was bad (full stop) I'm not kidding (full stop) Poor guy (full stop)

In its purest form, “sial” means “jinx” but mats have refined the art of using the word to include it at the end of their every sentence. Also comes in the more polite form “siak” and “siul” for those who do not want to sound too crude.

Skank [s-kank] adjective - A favourite weird-looking dance performed by mats and minahs. Usually done at any of the various gigs that mats and minahs love to congregate at. At times, you do detect evidence of artistry in the dance but most of the time they just look like they've been possessed by the ghost of a restless retard.

Sowie [soh-wee] adjective – An expression of apology used by minahs. Commonly used in SMS and instant messaging. Actually they can just use the word “sorry” like every normal human being but minahs think that it will make them sound extra cute to deliberately talk that way. Example : “I will be late. Sowie!”

Step [se-tep] adjective – To beguile, dissimulate or impersonate something or someone that they are not. Also commonly used to describe a fellow mat or minah who acts in an arrogant manner. E.g.“Kau jangan nak step tak tahu eh?” Translation: Don't you dare feign innocence in this matter. Can also be used as a gerund e.g. “stepping”. See next entry.

Step Jambu [se-tep jam-boo] adjective - What minahs do when they are sitting alone in a train and a group of mats walk in. It is a general exercise where the minah “controls” her facial muscles and posture in a way that would make her look her best. This would usually involve looking incessantly at her handphone for no particular reason.

Stoppit [setop-eet] adjective – A general expression of intolerance and dismay. When a minah uses this phrase, be very careful for it signals that she is about to lose her cool or get very violent.

Usually directed by minahs in an annoyed manner, followed by the postfix “seh”, “siak” or “sial”. (See entry for “sial” above) Eg: Apasal ngan perangai kau hari ni? Stopitsiak! Translation : What's up with your attitude today? Enough of it already for goodness' sake!”

What I Did During Hubby's Absence...

It's only been a day since hubby left for his work trip to Malaysia and I'm missing him already... Imagine how would it feels like if he were to be on an outstation trip for a month or be it a week!! sheesh... (To Baba if you're reading this: I'm missing you already...Thank you for being there by my side while I was in the Alexandra Hospital A&E Dept the other night. Your presence really helped and it calmed me a lot. May Allah bless you for your responsibility as a good husband and father to our family. Love you lots!!)

So what did I do during the hubby's absence? I went to Chong Pang Central with little Asil... Bought lady blouses at $18 for 2 pieces. Great price!! I mean, the blouses doesn't look like $9 per piece to me at all... So I was quite surprised when I found out that 2 pieces had only cost me 18 bucks!! Cheap cheap cheap!!

Then after that, went to grab some snacks for little Asil as he was basically feeling hungry... I bought 2 little shirts for the babies at $2 each at another shop... Cheap I tell you... Then, went to MCP Supermarket to buy some groceries for the mom... Met the mom under the void deck of our crib to hand over the groceries to her before making a move to meet up with Aunt Mama Yang at the Woodlands Civic Centre where she needed to get some of her errands done there...

While waiting for her, I saw this little booth shops selling apparels and stuffs... One of the booth had caught my eyes and guess what!! They were selling apparels at $5 per piece!! OMG!! That's so freaking CHEAP!! Me? What kinda action did I do next after seeing the '$5 sign' on the booth? Shop la... What else... 5 bucks you know... Damn cheap... The quality of the apparels were quite good too!! So I bought like 3 pieces of it... One for me, one for the cousin Lala and another one for the aunt Mama Yang... Murah giler dok!! Little Asil? What was he doing? He was basically smiling around, showing his cute little chubby face to almost all of the women there... Cheeky little baby... :)

So OK, the aunt and her youngest daughter, Yaya arrived shortly... Followed the aunt to settle her stuffs at the bank before making our way to the Causeway Point Shopping Centre... So little Yaya had this 'thing' for 'crafts'... So yeah, we went to this craft shop... Yaya wanted to do some crafting... And we let her do her craft thingy before going to the Banquet Food Court to have our lunch...

After that, we went to the aunt's crib and chilled there for a while... Both the aunt and I tried on our clothings... Yaya doing her school homework... Little Asil watching Madagascar... bla bla bla... Got ourselves ready for our next trip tooooooo - Sembawang Shopping Centre... Met up with cousin Lala at the Woodlands Interchange took a bus to the place and met up with my mom, little bro Adam and my daughter, little Asyura there...

We had our dinner at Madina's... The food was OK la... Not that delicious as how it used to be... Coz da lame jugak tak makan kat sane... After that we went back to S.S.C... Had a little grocery shopping again but this time grocery shopping's done at GIANT Supermarket situated in the basement...

Hubby's Going On A Short Working Trip To Malaysia...

So hubby's work trip to Malaysia was already planned and confirmed since December last year... His company had assigned him to take up a 'Welding Course' there and learn a few things... Basically, he'll be going there by coach, with his Manager and Supervisor on January 7th (today) and will only be back in Singapore on January 9th... Food and stay will be provided at the Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya...

Gosh!! How I wish I could tag along and meet up with my cousins there again... Jealous aku!! I still miss K.L you know!! I miss everything there!! boo hoo hoo...

Anyway, he was told that his company had some plans for him... Better prospects? Better pay? Promoted? Well, I don't know... As a wife, I'm happy for him... Well, we should improve ourselves, learn new stuffs instead of just getting stuck in the comfort zone...

I always pray and hope for the best in our lives... I'm thankful to have a hubby who could get along very well with me... We share the same views and visions... Doing and managing things on our own instead of depending on others is a huge challenge to us both...

What A Great Weekend!! :)

Salam people!!

So my weekend was great... We went to Marina Barrage with my youngest bro, Adam & nephew, Khai last Saturday... The place, I tell you... It was fan-tas-tic!! It was so windy and breezy... The architectural design of that place was pretty impressive... I should give a credit to whoever it was that designed the Marina Barrage... A great place to chill!!

We went to have a late dinner at the Beach Road Food Centre and went home after that only to realise that we had forgotten to pay for the food that we ate... hee hee... Seriously, we totally forgot to pay the 'Mamak' for our food...

The next day, we went to have a little family picnic at the Seletar Dam... Took some pictures bla bla bla... And got home just in time for the world news...

I was basically feeling very angry about the war between the freaking children of Israel and the poor Palestinians... Bloody hell!! Wonder when will this war end... When will this abomination end... Casualties and corpses everywhere... Children... Many helpless children injured and killed... Bloody wretched ISRAEL!! YOU AND YOUR FREAKING JACKASS SOLDIERS!! Ehud Olmert - YOU HAVE A HEART OF STONE... It's a WAR between YOU and the HAMAS!! But why do the Palestinian people get involved? Why bombed their hospitals? Why killed their children? Why bombed their houses and schools? It's just between you and the Hamas... So why go on killing thousands and thousands of innocent lives? Why? Why? Why? You bloody freak!! WHY?

I pray to Allah swt that you will get what you truly deserve one day. Insya'allah!! Amin...

I wonder... Where's help when we needed one? What's the point of forming the United Nation when they can't do a single thing to help stop this war of hatred? Why is America staying in silence? Why isn't there any action taken over Israel? Why? Why? Why? Where's the justice? Where's the peace for humanity?

So what did I do to help our fellow Palestinians? I wrote this - ISRAELI FORCES MOVE INTO GAZA. DEAR FELLOW MUSLIMS, LET US PRAY FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR FELLOW MUSLIMS IN PALESTINE. THE ELDERLY, DISABLED AND CHILDREN. THEY ARE THE ONES WHO SUFFERED TREMENDOUS PAIN. LET US ALL PRAY TOGETHER AND SEEK ALLAH'S HELP TO STOP THIS ABOMINATION. The Event Of December 31st, 2008...

OK, I'm actually still in a state of shock after what had happened to hubby and me in the afternoon of New Year's Eve... I'll elaborate more on the incident...

December 31st...

Woke up pretty early in the morning (about 9 plus) coz I need to be ready for my jab appointment at the KK Women's and Children's Hospital before I start work at 2pm later on... Hubby's gonna be the one to send me there and while waiting for him, I brought little Asil for a little stroll down at the void deck...

Once hubby arrived, we headed back home to send little Asil up before driving to the hospital... Instead of riding his bike, hubby decided to drive us to there... So yeap... We hopped into our car and drove off to our appointed destination...

Everything went smoothly, from my jab to our lunch and to the part where we had a discussion on my blogshop thingy (Yes!! I'm gonna be opening my blogshop soon. Insya'allah... Still need some brushing up to do... So you guys watch out for it ya!!) then while driving along Upper Thomson Road towards Yishun, there's this bloody freak woman driver in front of our vehicle, who, all of a sudden, did an emergency brake in the middle of the road!! Hubby managed to pull his emergency brake in time in order not to hit the back of the woman's car... I mean, we managed to pull a brake but we're just inches away from her car... And, just as we thought it's OK, there's this freaking other car with this freak man driver, who, in like a split second, hit our car from the back... I tell you, the impact... it's shocking!! I was screaming my lungs out man!! We're just glad we had our saftey seat belts on... Alhamdulillah nothing happened to us... But the CARRRRRRRR... OMFG!! Our CARRRRRR... It got so freaking distorted... Boo hoo hoo... I was so not happy about the hit and all... Thank god I had my digicam with me everywhere I go and I managed to take a few pics of the dent marks on all 3 cars... Our car being in the middle, got the most hit... Sheesh... Curse that women and her e-break!! Bloody hell!! And that guy whose car hit the ass of my car!! You freaking people... Urghhh!! I thank god that I didn't have my babies tagging along with me... Imagine what would happened to them if they were to tag along... Subhanallah!! Syukur Ya Allah!! My babies weren't with us when it happened...

So here comes the best part...

The freaking woman decided to make a big 'hoo-haa' and expected us to pay for the damaged done to her CAR!! Freaking hell!! By then I was so feeling pissed already but hubby was keeping himself cool and simply listened to whatever crap that woman said... My temper was already on the verge of blowing up... You know, the hit impact, the damages to my car, the pain I got from my jab, the stress coming from doing my month-end closing later in the office and now this big hoo-haa crap?! Halo!! Your freaking car isn't the only car who got distorted!! Mine too!! And ours was worst!! Ours was hit both front and back!!

Me (trying to control my anger), "What? You expect us to pay your damages in cash?"

She (looking so 'ya-ya'), "Ya, because you hit my car that's why you have to pay lor..."

Me (already about to blow off), "You freakingly did an emergency brake in the middle of the freaking road!! My husband saw what you did and immediately, he did an emergency brake too!! We didn't even hit your car although we were just inches away from it!! Our car hit yours only when the back car hit ours!! And why on earth are you doing an emergency brake in the middle of the freaking lane?!!"

She (trying to act blur), "I had no choice lor, the car infront of me did an e-brake so I also did an e-brake lor..."

Me (freakingly pissed already), "What!! You had no choice!! What about us!! What choice do we have when the impact from the back car had also made an impact on yours!! And where's your so-called front car?!! Hey!! We didn't hit your car not until the freaking man driver hit us from behind!!"

Hubby (playing himself cool and talking to the woman), "OK nevermind, you give me your contact number and later I will contact you."

Me (frowning at him for interrupting my arguement with the woman), "Ape!! Nak call diyebalek?!!"

Hubby (ushing me towards our car), "Tak pe, kite relax dulu... Masok dalam kreta nanti bole bual..."

As for the the man driver who hit our car from behind, we managed to negotiate with him and decided to let our car insurance company handle the matter for us...

So we sent to our car to the nearest workshop that had been appointed to deal with our car accident and insurance claim... Guess what? It happened to be Cheng Hoe Motor Services!! The workshop that my workplace had appointed to deal with all our company's vehicle accident and insurance claim too!! Alhamdulillah!! Woo hoo!! We're pretty lucky coz I know the staffs there and they are happy to assist me anytime and anywhere... hee hee... (Thanks June for your kind assistance!! You really helped us a lot!! And the car you rented to us? The car's great too!! Kreta baru u!!)

As for the woman and me, we both had come to a conclusion of getting everything done thru our respective insurance agent... NO CASH INVOLVED!!

I ended up starting work late... Arrived in the office at about 4 plus in the late afternoon... (Thanks Baba for sending Ummi to work!!) And ended up doing my month-end closing of account till 8 plus in the evening... pfft...

After that hubby came to fetch me with the babies, my mom and bro Adam tagging along coz aunt Mama Yang and family had organized a barbeque at the Down Town East Pasir Ris NTUC Chalet. So yeap, hubby dropped us off there before making his move towards Hougang for his class...

Almost everyone's at the chalet... No pictures taken coz I left my digicam in the office in a rush of leaving the place... pfft... So I decided to use cousin Lala's photo shots instead... hee hee... (La!! Aku amek gamba kau siket ye... Maceh!! Mmmmuah!!)
