I'm No Willy Wonka..

I'm no WILLY WONKA, I'm LILY BAKAR, not BAKER; my mouth is not a BAKERY.

I don't sugarcoat stuff, pretend to like & accept everything you do & then later on find ways & excuses to get rid of you & let you be.

Unlike some, I wasn't brought up that way.

Alhamdulillah, For Blessing Me With Such Good Children..

My eldest & my middle.. My littlest one no need to say lah; always wanna menyelit with Ummi & Baba. 🤭

It's my eldest & my middle that I wanna post about.. 🙃

Though we live in a 4rm HDB apartment (3 rooms + 1 common area which consists of living room, dining area & kitchen), both have been sharing the same bedroom even before they reach puberty; eversince kindergarten.

As a parent, I understand at times, with their current age, they need the privacy coz both are reaching the stage of becoming young adults. At times it could be quite frustrating for them not to be able to get separate rooms for themselves. The fact that 1 is aging into a young man while the other into a young lady. Things would be easier if both born of the same gender.

However, the situation that we're facing doesn't give them the freedom of access to that. And again, as a parent, I understand how it feels like to be waking up in the early morning, gotta wait for each other's turn in getting ready for school or for an occasion or just to unwind in their own thoughts alone in the room after a tiring day.

Yes, it seems unfair to them. Come to think of it, it seems unfair to us as well but I always remind them that for a child their age, their feelings, mentality & how they think of 'others first before their own', surpass those much older than them. They are willing to sacrifice what others are not able to commit in a long run, well maybe even till they graduate from school & each have a boyfriend or girlfriend of their own. By then, even my littlest won't be that small anymore to menyelit with his Ummi & Baba.

I am proud to say that I am blessed to have them as my children & even though at times, it pisses & breaks me inside having to swallow the things that are beyond our control, I am glad my children are able to accept & understand that.

Given the situation they are facing, not many will be able to do what they do, willingly. Whatever that is happening around them, may they see & learn from it. Most importantly, may they all be a better version of us..

They may not be able to see the blessings bestowed upon them for their sacrifices, InshaAllah in time to come, they will.. ❤

Salam Jumuah Mubarakah.. 🌹

What separates us from them & others?

We are just ordinary individuals who have developed belief in ourselves & in what we do. We keep telling ourselves that we are not better than them & others, but instead, we are just different than them & others in a way that is better.

This is what separates us from them & others. This is what makes us successful in the sight of Allah & it does not even require the brightest of intellect to grasp this.

My penny worth of thought..

Every Child Is Gifted & Unique..

Never compare my children to others even if you think others are better at it.

You may say it positively that "Child A works as a doctor while Child B works as an engineer or Child C is bright while Child D is good-looking", but all my children will remember is how incapable they are at it.

Praise my children for who they are. Stop this typical culture of comparing, competing & thinking that everything they do is never enough.

Every child is unique. Why compare one against another?

You don't hear them comparing how "fat or thin, selfish or well-mannered, dumb or clever, pretty or ugly" you are with others your age.

For We Are What We Make Of Ourselves..

Everyday, I keep telling myself..

• That today's gonna be better than yesterday.
• To smile even for the littlest gust of wind blown on my face.
• Never dwell on certain things & always hope for the best in everything.

Becoz lifting one's self up has to start from within. One can have a thousand or even million friends out there who can be so kind enough to give words of encouragement & moral support. But if nothing starts from within, one will still feel empty as a whole.

The heart though very fragile, it needs to be strong; though delicate, it must stay resilient.

For we are what we make of ourselves..🌹
